Can coffee cans be welded?

Question:I have a ton of cans and I thought that maybe if I weld them I can make an interesting shelf to display fabrics and other sewing materials. Does anybody know?

Answers:
yes they can but at lower temperatures because of the thickness. try soldering instead

Yes.
sure almost anything can be welded if you know how.
most coffee cans have a coating that keeps welds from sticking. grind clean the spots to be welded and use a wire feed welder at low temp. soldering may be OK but cannot take much abuse.solder the same way. nickle will hold but takes more heat than regular solder and is expensive. propane is OK for regular but maps gas is required for silver
unless you have a gas welding outfit. yes it is very dangerous and should be left to a pro.
