Question:I have a head board and foot board that i want to refinsh. They have lots of small grooves and I need a good stripping product to take off several layers of old paint. I also just need any good tips for refinishing them.

Answers:
Sanding anyway possible I'm gonna do it when I leave here. You can use chemical strippers but you eventually have to sand to get the wood ready for staining.I did a head board for my aunt and it turned out great put on 3 layers of polyurethane after its done and it will look like its under glass and easy to clean. You go with the grain of the wood and 150 sand paper after stripped 220 between coats of polyurethan.

um, i don't know
you gotta strip in front of the furniture in order for it to strip.. I mean come on give and take you know?
buy a can of paint remover, not thinner. Brush on and wait. Get a scraper and scrap it off. If it does not all come off repeat. When you a have the paint off break out the sandpaper and sand off till you have bear wood. Start with 60 then go to 150. I then go to 300 but most people dont. Use any brand of stain but minwax. If you use minwax you MUST sand between each coat. Other brands you dont sand between coats.
Then ( most dont ) I sand with 600 paper then put on clear coat. Poly is ok if you put it on as thin as possible. I recomend laquer as the clear coat.
