Does anyone know or heard of a program called 20 or 2.0 for interior design?? I guess designers use this?

Question:I work at a big company and we have a Interior and design here in the company. Well Im a receptionist for the company right now, but I have been helping them out with some things here and there.

One of the designers said something about a 20 program or 2.0 program. I said how I would love to get into designing, but I dont really like school, and he mentioned I should learn this program.

Any suggestions? Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!!!!

The program I think your thinking of is called 2020, my firm and my school dont use it, but i've seen it used for kitchen design.

I know school can be icky, but if you want to get into the field you PROBABLY should at least try some higher education. It can help you decide if you really want to go into that field and most firms I know wont hire you unless you have a degree (in interior design).

The program you are referring to is 20/20. This a program that it utilized for kitchen design. Interior design is a field that you cannot enter unless you have the education to back it up. An interior design degree is very similar to architecture. As the other poster said, I would encourage you too look into some higher education because in order to take the national certification exam to be an interior designer, you have to have a bachelors degree in interior design or interior architecture (plus work experience).

EDIT: The poster below gave you some information that isnt correct. All of the Associate degree programs are being phased out and will be completely so by 2011 if i remember correctly. If you want to get into REAL interior design, a BA is a must. And, I know for a fact that you cannot take the NKBA exams without a BA. But more than any of that, learning design is so much fun. People might not think highly of it, but to see a project from start to finish is one of the most rewarding things about interior design.

Getting an AA would mean you would have to work under the supervision of someone else for your entire career. You could never be the principal of a design firm and thus your income would only modestly increase.

this program is called 20/20 and used for kitchen and bath designs for companies like lowe's and home depot. you don't need a design degree to work in these companies and they will also train you to use the program. if you want to be a certified designer, you do need to go to school. getting the certification requires an AA with 4 years of work experience or a Bachelor's with 2 years experience. you don't need to be certified to be a designer. you can always work under someone else's company or license. you only need the certification if you're planning to start your own business. also, you might want to inquire the company you work for if they offer any training for a designer's asst. perhaps...good luck!
