What will stay longer paint, wall paper, or both?
Question:I'm re-painting my doughters room and need to what will work better.
Answers:
Paint will last longer especially in a child's room where wallpaper might have a tendency to peel quicker than paint. Also, wallpaper is pretty outdated. If you have to have wallpaper, then maybe go with a border instead of papering the whole wall.
From experience, paint fades quicker than wallpaper. Plus, a good, thick pattern can hide alot of wall defects (if you have any).
They both have the potential to last a long time if done correctly. On the other hand, if you ever plan to change the room again, taking wall paper off is a REAL pain!
paint. many wall papers start to peel off through time.
Paint will last you way longer than wallpaper, for sure!
Paint is a better alternative and I think will last longer. Depending on your child's age there are some great paints that will wipe clean after dirty hands, crayons, etc.
What would also be great for a kids' is blackboard paint. This will give them an area they can be creative on or even leave messages, homework assignments and things like that. You didn't say how old your daughter is but if you go to Better Homes and Gardens at the link you can get ideas for all ages.
Do NOT wallpaper. It's a mess and actually decreases the value of your home. If applied wrong, it can become permanent and you'd have to strip the sheetrock to get it off.
I recommend painting, then use one of those non-permanent wallpaper borders if you really want something else on the walls.
P.S. It's daughter.
