What flooring is the most attractive, practical, functional and pet-proof for a bedroom?
Question:I just got a new home with carpeting in the bedrooms. My dogs do sometimes have accidents, so I want to replace the flooring with something else.
Answers:
Laminate wood flooring with throw rugs.
It depends on your flooring under the carpet. If you have a concrete subfloor (slab foundation) you can stain the concrete. When I added a sunroom to a home a few years ago, instead of carpet or other expensive type of flooring, we just did a concrete stain. Here's a web site with some colors available and some pictures of different techniques. www.scofield.com I have no affiliation...it was just one of the 1st results from a google search of concrete stain colors.
I'd say Hardwood would be your best compromise - That way a quick mop up will take care of accidents, and hardwood floors are gorgeous! (Of course, I'm biased - we have many hardwood floors.) Ideally, I'd say linoleum, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a pattern of linoleum that didn't look tacky in a bedroom.
