Which is a better investment. Couch or Futon?
Question:I really like the way the more contemporary futons look (I saw some on walmart.com) but I'm wondering if the mattress will mess up on me? I just want to use it as a couch in my apartment so I won't be unbending and bending it back all the time..thanks

I would go with the couch, unless you need a 2nd sleeping option. There are a lot more contemporary furniture options out there these day.
Any furniture from wal-mart is not going to be an investment. Spend a little more money and get something that will last a little longer.
In most cases a couch would be good to fit a living room but in your case a futon might be better.its lighter, cheaper, easier to move and you can cover it up with a comforter or sheet to make it look better..I say the futon
Personally, I think a couch is a better investment. You could get a sleeper sofa for extra sleeping accomodations. I've heard a lot of people say sofa beds are not comfortable, but futons don't have a good comfort rating, either.
When you get right down to it, it's a matter of personal taste. Your living quarters, your budget, your lifestyle, your plans for future home, etc. all factor in.
I'm sure you will make a wise choice.
We have a futon and it's just not very comfortable to sit on for extended periods of time. I would definitely invest in a couch. My personal opinion...
We have had a walmart futon for 5 years now, however, it si very uncomfortable to sit on and i had to cut a piece of plywood under the matress to keep from feeling the bars holding the mattress etc..Glad we have it though for it is ina spare bedroom for an 'emergency guest" to sleep on when we have them...The couch will be less butt aches and back aches
