What is the best way to get paint out of carpet?
Question:
Answers:
We moved into a place in Florida where the painters got paint splatters all over the floor. We brought it to their attention and the guy brought over of all things a giant bottle of goo gone and it worked great other than the smell. I hate oranges so it was a little irratating to me.
Hope this helps.
It would be helpful to know what type of paint. Water based? Latex? Acrylic? Oil?
If its just a waterbased paint I'd try using plain water with COLOR SAFE bleach added (try it in the corner of your room to be sure it doesn't harm your carpet first). Just scrub gently with the water and blot with paper towels or old towels. Keep doing this until its gone.
for latex or acrylic you might try some mineral spirits to loosen it and then use the method above. Again though, first try a bit on an inconspicuous area.
Oil paints represent a huge problem. I'm afraid most of them would require a solvent and that would probably hurt your carpet more than what the paint has.
Depending on the amount of paint and what kind(alkyd or latex)you want to start out simply and work up
First try hot water and a scrub brush-may bee ad a bit of vinegar to the water if its not working.
Try a little denatured alcohol on a rag or a scrunge pad
Try a product such as goof off on a rag or scrunge pad-the last two solutions carry the possibility of lifting the color out of the rug so test in an out of the way area such as a closet corner
