Need advice about how to make a false ceiling in a bathroom?
Question:the original ceiling has artex and gone mouldy with steam from shower.I want to put a false ceiling in the bathroom and i really dont know where to start.can anyone help?

you need to build a frame to start with with some 2 x 2 and then you can cover your frame with your chosen covering.
You could re-board it then re-plaster it and then paint it with a good bathroom paint.
You could clean it then paint it with the said paint.
You could clean it then smooth it with Ronseal Smooth over and then paint it.
You could rip the lot down then follow my first answer.
Time will be your enemy or stay dirty for a while, I'd choose the third just to rid myself of the dreaded artex.
!st. you need to kill mold w/ 30 % bleach & 70% water . make sure mold is completey dead not just dormant.
if the cealing isint damaged at all you can get rid of the mold with killz primer and then when you repaint the cealing you can put an addative into the paint to prevent it from molding int the future and its alot less expensive and alot easier then a drop cealing
