Are latex mattresses any good compared to spring mattresses?

They are too warm for me and could be very unpleasant if two hot people were sleeping together, and I am not referring to any activity.
I have a pocket sprung deep mattress with a layer of memory foam on top and that sure is warm. My electric blanket is redundant now and I feel this is the best option of all the mattresses on sale. One manager of a bedding shop actually told me that the latex beds were not the best choice.
They can be good, especially if you're allergic. They are a bit heavier and less 'airy' than spring mattresses, it is really what you prefer. What i personally dislike about latex mattresses is that they tend to get very warm.
