Granite or silestone countertops?
Question:
Answers:
Granite is a very high end materal and I would only use granite if I knew that my customer would get a return on an investment such as granite.
With that said, SileStone is not as expensive but it is still a big investment. However, I think it is the better alternative. Quartz is a material that is essentially maintainence free whereas granite has to be sealed and it can hold bacteria. SileStone does not hold bacteria and if you have children in the home, I cannot stress how much of a comfort that would be. Also, you have many more color options with SileStone.
Note: You wouldnt want to use granite in if the other homes in your area dont have granite. It would increase the value of the home, but at the same time probably make it harder to sell.
Granite
granite. Its stronger and more elegant. visually
Granite I would say... It's much stronger and more durable, dirt doesn't show on some kinds, there are a lot of shapes, colors, and prices to choose from, and it's a cool material that works well with the heat usually generated in kitchens.
I am a contractor who works exclusivly in the luxury home market and 95% of the kitchens have granite , next is limestone, then concrete...silestone and cambria are quartz and often found on the vanities in bathrooms.
If you have the choice, I would go with granite, hands down. We built a custom home and I decided that I liked the look of the granite. It does have to be sealed once a year (this takes NO time at all) and even though your Silestone and Zodiac etc. don't have to be sealed, that's about the only benefit to them.oh except they ARE uniform in color and design in the stone because they are man made. Granite on the other hand is natural stone and will have variations in it which only enhances its appearance. Also, if you check the pricing, you'll see that Granite is not a lot more expensive than your man made countertop materials like Zodiac and Silestone or even CORIAN.
If you want a custom kitchen, you want what custom kitchens have. Granite.
GOOD LUCK and enjoy your new countertops!!
