Can you paint formica/laminate? If so, with what?

Question:People paint old wood kitchen cabinets. Can you paint outdated formica kitchen cabinets? If so, What kind of paint do you use? How do You treat the surface?

Answers:
Sand lightly and wash well. Prime with oil based primer or Kilz, dry completely (at least 24 hours), paint with an acrylic latex paint. You may want to coat with a water based polyurethane, but wait at least 3 days to allow the paint to fully cure.

I would not paint a laminate counter top, simply because of the wear factor, but there is no reason you could not paint cabinets.

No, formica is plastic. I don't know of any paint that will stick long term to plastic
