paint, paint, paint. Color is where it is at. Get the colors you love and you can add the frills as you go.
Paint, and get the extension for the rollers so it goes fast and easy. Be sure to wrap any papers with paint at the end of the day, and put these outside. Be careful of fumes. Also shelving, some recommend mirrors, and I would recommend closed shelving, as it lasts and is easy to live with.
New globes for the lighting, or a three bulb light rod for the bathroom. Don't throw away everything you replace, because if you want to move, you may want to put the originals back before you do.
Paint and fabrics usually do a great deal.. change the wall colors and hang new curtains that can make a huge difference cover your couch with a slip cover or get a new couch... some choices.
