Carpeting Question. HELP?
Question:My young dog had chewed a corner of the carpet in my room. chewed it so much, you can see the wood and nails. it's not a big spot that he has chewed, but it's about 3 inches by 4 inches. Has this happened to anyone else? Can a carpet company just repair that corner and not tear up the whole thing? And will it be costly? The thing is, i need this to repaired without my mother knowing (i'm only a teenager) and if she finds out, she'll be furious. So any ideas? I know we have leftover carpeting, can't the company just cut a custom piece from that and stitch with the remaining carpet? help!

Its actually very easy to repair yourself. find an extra piece of carpet and match it (worn/dirt) as close possible. take a razor knife and cut a square double the size of the damaged area. then cut your extra piece to match. use carpet tape (home depot/lowes) and read directions to heat the tape (u can use a clothing iron) place tape down in missing area/heat/attach new piece. then take a comb or brush and work out the edges to mesh in with other carpet. not a big deal at all!
Put a dresser over it.
The bad part is if they repair the carpet it will have a seam and she will notice,buy a rug or table to put there
Yes they can. They will probably replace a piece that is a little bit bigger because they need to seam it together and that is a really small area to work with.
It should not cost that much - a minimum charge - maybe $100.00.
Call the company and explain the situation.

My boyfriend punched a hole in my bedroom door when I broke up with him. I put a poster over it. Two years later when I move out of my parents house we all laughed about it. We wouldn't have at the time it happened.
I'm sorry Jane, but no they cant.Even if they could,you would see the join.And yes my dog chewed a lump out of a rug, and there was a big hole in it. You'll just have to admit it to mum.Let's face it puppies don't know they are been naughty.If it's only a corner,your lucky. Be brave,Mum will get over it.But don't let puppy start on something really valueable. Good Luck!
