I have torn down paneling and drywall is behind it how do i patch it up?
Question:the drywall looks like it was painted or something
Answers:
you need drywall mud to fill the holes and cracks. if it is the crack left between the two sheets of drywall, you will also need drywall tape. and a mud trowell. Tape the crack between the two panels. then apply the mud with a trowel and smooth it out. Mud comes dry or wet and there are two different types. the blue and the green. (color of the box) blue is lightweight and sets&dries more rapidly, green is the regular. Let the mud dry, then you will be able to use a fine sandpaper to smooth any ridges left over. Then primer and paint or wallpaper. If there are holes, you will need to use a patching screen before applying the mud.
Is the Drywall torn? Are you putting up more paneling? Are there holes in the Drywall? The only thing I can tell you about your question, is that it is problbley panel glue your looking at.Or maybe Greenwall. I can't really tell .Bye
If it can be patched then get a bucket of drywall patch from Lowes or Home Depot and fill in the cracked or broken areas. Remember, less is more when you are dealing with drywall mud. Light layers work lots better than one big thick layer.
Trust me, it will take less time to do 3 or 4 layers and sand a little than to do 1 big globby layer and sand a whooooole bunch and boy what a mess it causes. hope this helps ya
Yea get some mud from the store and patch it a little at a time. And don't bother trying to that butter knife to apply the patch. Get a 6in blade to start, then a 12 or 14in to finish. If you do thin coats, you can just use the blade to scim off the excess when it is soft dry.
Remove as much glue if any as possible. fix any holes with drywall board. and like everyone said get some mud and put on bad spots in thin coats. Good luck
