Answers:
When you're decorating to create harmony in your room, don't start with the wall paint colors. Choose something you really like first, such as a bedspread. Once you have chosen that item, choose your paint colors from that.
To have complete harmony in a room, you need to use 3 colors (1 dominant = wall paint color, 1 medium = trim color & 1 accent color = decorative objects). Keep in mind that in paint, white is NOT a color but the absence of all color (which is why white goes with everything) and black is NOT a color but the mixture of all colors (which is why black also goes with everything). There must always be a hint of black in every decorating scheme, as this will ground all of your colors together. This black can be a carpet, a rug, a lampshade, a vase, a sculpture... any small item will work.
I would find a bedspread that you really like and go with that to choose your colors. If you choose your paint first, you may not find a bedspread that matches it.
As for designs on your wall, use what makes you happy, such as pictures of happy times, people you love, etc.
Enjoy your new room!
purple
i love lime green!
my cousin did this.
she left an unpainted 'white rectangle' just beside her bed and painted the rest of the wall green.
and in that rectangle box, she painted a lil painting of her life. like her loves, hobby and all.
also, she left handprints on the ceiling, going up from 1 side of the wall, climbing up to the ceiling. u know, like footprints, but handprints instead. i thought they were cute.
blue for your bedsheets would be nice too. u know, a nice, soothing colour.
hope this helps and good luck! :)
My daughter did lavender with silver trim. You can stick to solids with a variety of lavender/gray/silver tones or find a print you like. You can do lavender and light green together.
You can do floral pictures or my daughter's preference was Chinese lettering.
They did a really cool lavender bedroom on HGTV where they made it look like Hollywood in the 30s. Lots of silver and crystal things.
some colour u like
Since lavender and lime green are complimentary colors you can paint the walls lime green, all the wood work, doors, baseboards, windows, lavender. Since those colors are associated with the tropics, pick out a tropical themed bedspread, throw pillows, and pictures. Chow
If you have a small room, painting it a bright colour will make it appear larger. This effect generall works for all sizes of rooms, but is especially useful for small rooms. In larger rooms, if a lot of spaces makes you uneasy, go for a darker colour. Also, pick colours that you really like. You should also look for a colour wheel in case you are planning on using multiple colours, in order to see which complement each other.
White. Goes with everything.
Go to the behr site, they have "colorsmart" that enables you to check color.
You could start with your bedding colors and keep the colors on them in mind, when choosing wall color. ( or vice versa)
Do you like themes? ie. beach, forest, etc?? think of the colors in a theme.
I apinted mine lime green on 3 sides(and the entryway) and blue onthe wall my bed is against.Purple looks awesome in it.
My bedspread is quilt-style,with hot pink, green, blue, and purple, yellow. It looks great.I also have autographed posters from my fave musicians/groups.
according to me u should paint your wall with such a colour that u dont like as if u paint ur wall ur fav. color than u will get borred by that in few days but if u dont like the color than u will start liking it in few days &will not get borred.
