What are some ideas of decorating a teen's bedroom?
Question:I'm getting tired of my bedroom that I decorated in first grade and I need ideas on how to redecorate my room when on a low budget. I'm definitely going to paint my walls, and I despise my purple carpet, though I don't have enough money to get it lifted up and then sanding&etc the hardwood below it. Any ideas or examples of bedrooms that I could get ideas from would help...I'm kind of looking for a beachy theme, but I'm not very picky =) Thanks! -Jackie

a single large laundry hamper?LOL, you can get carpet dyed. that should free your color restrictions
Go to the library look at some home decoding books. You really don't say weather your a girl or boy but assuming the spelling your a girl. Maybe pick up a few surfer mags stuff like that. Look on craigslist.com see if someone is giving a an old surf board away you can hang that from the celling. Surely someone else has done it. Hang beach stuff on the walls after painting. One important thing have fun doing it.
You can get some sea shells either naturally from a beach, or at a crafts store. You could hot glue them onto a mirror, use a couple of the larger shells as drawer pulls, as well as other accessories throughout your room. A sisal or bamboo type area rug from Pier 1 or Target could be placed over your purple carpet. Depending on where you live, Home Goods has some beachy/nautical type things from accessories to pictures to small pieces of furniture.
Check out upcoming holiday sales, and end of the season sales for beachy type items.
Changing carpet out or dying it is pricey and messy. I say look for ocean inspirations that incorporate the purple. Think of sunsets...they have purple, orange, yellow and pink tones. Sea shells also have lot of purple and mauve tones. Use neutral bedding ( like a sandy colored comforter) with pillows the color of a sunset sky...some really nice iridescent looking orange and lilac colors would be nice. Then accessorize. Do you have an IKEA or a Christmas Tree Shop nearby? Both would have inexpensive weathered wood picture frames that would also sort of tie in that beach worn look.
