How can I remove paint on my deck?
Question:Is there any way that I can remove paint on my deck other than sanding. My goal is to get down to the bare-wood, and then stain the deck. I appreciate your time and knowledge
Answers:
The quickest way to do it is to use a pressure washer. There are products you can use with the pressure washer to aid in the removal. The washers are available for rental or purchase at a renta co. or Home Depot/Lowes, etc.
Take care not to use too powerful a stream, as many of the washers can remove paint as well as wood.
You never want to powerwash your deck. It bends and frays the wood-causing any sealer or stain to not penetrate as well and it also causes splintering. I would however go to Lowe's and in the paint department they have chemicals that you can apply directly to your deck that require little scrubbing. Look for Olympic or Cabot brands. And remember to soak surrounding plants and grass in water that way they soak up the water and not the chemicals so no harm comes to them. It shouldn't be too hard of a process. Good luck!
