Painting wallpaper?

Question:

Answers:
Make sure the wallpaper is secure, use elmers glue under any loose edges.
Scrub the wall with a damp sponge to remove dirt and any residual wallpaper paste. Repair holes or dents with vinyl spackling compound, and allow the substance to dry. Then roll on oil based kilz stainblocking primer/sealer...after 1 hour paint using latex or oil-based paint.
(If you decide to remove the walpaper, roll on liquid fabric softener and the paper will come off easily.)

The wallpaper gets wet and peels off. Believe me I tried it in my cell, what a mess.
Sure but you'll have to redo it if the paper starts to peel...then you'll have to peel it all.
If you had phrased your question better, I would have starred it. I think you want to know if it;s possible to paint wallpaper and that's an interesting question.

Good luck! :)
Not advisable. It would be well worth your time to strip the wallpaper, texture, and then paint. The reason for this stems from the fact that wallpaper glue - when saturated with water (or paint) has a tendency to lose hold of the substrate or wall that it is on. If you must do so however, there are ways to paint wallpaper and minimize the likelihood of it coming off the wall. Your first step should be - testing the condition of the paper. Essentially, just make sure you do not already have corners etc peeling from the wall. If you do - I would definitely not paint. If the wallpaper is in good condition - your second step is applying a good oil based primer. I use oil based primers b/c they do not soak through the paper as easily. Once you are done with the primer - you can spray a light texture on the wall and then paint. Just keep in mind that many latex paints do not adhere well to oil based primers.
I think it kind of looks bad, you can usually tell when someone does that!
I wouldn't paint wallpaper. When it starts to lift and peel it looks horrible...then you have a bigger mess to contend with. It'll take more time but my advice is to strip the wall of all the wallpaper. You can go to your local home improvement store and buy stuff especially made for stripping wallpaper off the wall, about $10. for a small container or you can invest $3. in a gallon of white vinegar, which will do the same thing. Mix white vinegar and water (1/2 & 1/2) use a razor to score all the wallpaper. Spray until saturated, let it work its way all the way in so the part of the paper that is on the wall gets wet too then scrape off (I use a large trowel/putty knife thing). It will take time and effort on your part but your walls will look so much better!
It's not impossible to paint over wallpaper although it is not recommended. If you are going to paint over the wallpaper make sure that it is secured to the wall and will not peel from the weight of the paint. What you would need to buy is "No strip" primer by Golden Harvest. You can not buy a any regular primer-you will need this one. You can find this primer at Lowe's and other home improvement stores. It is gray so it hides the pattern of the wallpaper. Remember you will not want a thick roller seeing as the wallpaper will be slick. You will need a 1/4 or 3/8 nap roller. After you use this primer you should be able to paint as usual.
