Can a top be attached to an under-counter dishwasher?

Question:After we bought and installed new cabinets and a countertop, my wife decided that she wanted a dishwasher, then proceeded to order an under the counter type after being told by the salesman that we could attach any top to it (preferably a butcher block style) and place it beside our new counter. Does any know if this is true or not? I haven't been able to find any information on the internet to confirm this.

Answers:
Yes you can. Usually its a butcher block that is attached. You still might have to somehow attach your dishwasher to a wall or cabinet. If you don't your dishwasher will fall forward when loading and unloading dishes. If you can you should see if you can return dishwasher and find a portable one.

Most built-in DW's do not have anything (brackets etc) that would allow a top to be connected to them.
