What do you use to make the real looking food display you see in food stores? Is it polyurathane spray?

Question:

Answers:
not sure, but on tv commercials, the food etc is coated with vegetable oil to make it look shiny and delicious.

I think it is varnish, I know that if you have gourds that you want to to display one coats them with varnish to keep then lasting longer, it keeps the air out which slows the deacy of the food.
i went to a halloween party as a 50's car hop french fries hamburger and soda. i used real food just went to the craft store and bought some stuff for coating ribbons and flowers
painted it on let dry and put a couple more coats on the stuff is still real looking 2 yrs later it was fabric stiffener by elmers glue lol
