blue and yellow look great together,so does a pale mauve.White also a good colour to look crisp and clean but in the uk it is rather cold in winter.

Depends om the color of the floor.
If floor is white, or light wood or tile:
paint the walls blue; or stripes with light, dark blue, and white; or
two facing walls striped, and two facing walls solid blue.
If floor is dark:
do white or blue walls, with maybe one striped wall at head of bed.

I would match a color sample to the light lbue. Then paint all the walls that color, then go and paint all the trim and doors the white.

The wall your bed goes up to should be red. The rest should be white.
(perhaps some yellow stars painted on the red would make you feel a kind of 'reverse' patriotic, unless you're Canadian of course...you used the word 'comforter' so I assume you're American as we brits say 'Quilt')
What on earth does the colour matter, you sleep with your eyes closed. Be sensible, save the money and go for an extra layer of straw in your mattress.... And remember in England a comforter is one of the things you stuff into a baby's mouth for peace and quiet
You can pick up any of the comforters colours or you can use contrasting colour- buy a colour wheel which will make choosing complimentary and contrasting colours abit easier.
