Whats the point in buying a bedroom set if they dont include the mattress?
Question:sorry to say. but who the hell wants just a headboard, dresser and mirror. sounds like a waste of money to me? whats the point in getting a headboard with no bed?
Answers:
It is called a BEDROOM set, not a bed set. It is intended to furnish a room.
Buy a mattress set with a plain bed frame, and the headboard will fit on it. [ make sure they are the same size ].
One objective is uniform furniture styling. Not including a mattress is probably a good thing, since everyone has different body weights, sleeping positions, neck-back-hip issues, and personal comfort preferences. Any mattress configuration will be praised by some and cursed by others.
The minimal quality polyurethane foam used in the top layer of most innerspring mattresses rapidly degrades, resulting in body depressions. Consider selecting a less expensive "firm" model and adding your own 3" topper . . talalay latex with a wool fleece pad, or memory foam.

Unfortunately, furniture manufacturers specialize in designing and making furniture, not mattresses. And, you wouldn't want them to, either. A lot of research and development goes into mattress manufacturing that furniture making simply doesn't take into account.
If it is only a bed that you are interested in purchasing, negotiate the frame into the mattress deal or simply put it on the floor and you won't have to purchase the entire bedroom suite.
