Anybody used linseed oil for thier garage floor coating?

Question:I heard it's a really good sealer, does it prevent motor oil and paint and things like that from penetrating the concrete?

Answers:
I don't think that I would use linseed oil to coat a concrete garage floor. I see two distinct problems. The first is that it would not prevent motor oil from penetrating the concrete floor and creating stains. The second is that you will track linseed oil into the rest of your house on your shoes. This will ruin carpet and will be a clean up problem on other types of flooring.

Best advice is to use a garage floor sealer that is especially designed for the purpose intended. The material is not terribly expensive and is available at most auto parts stores.

Good luck with your garage floor project.

If it is an unpainted floor you can use thompsons water seal. I think linseed oil would cause the dirt to stick to it more.
