I am wanting to tile my bathroom wth travertine tiles, but how easy or hard is it to shape these tiles?
Question:for example will a normal tile cutter suffice, or do you need specialist cutting equipment. can the tiles be snapped or nipped? if so do you get clean breaks?
Answers:
your best with an electric tile cutter, these are pretty cheap nowadays at around £25... and do an excellent cut. ideal for round window ledges and such like. with 1 of these you should have no problems and good luck. ive just done mine and its looks as good as any profesional would have done it. :-)
Call in a professional tiler . The finished product will look much better .
These guys do the job every day and know all the tricks , you will be doing it once or twice in a lifetime "
Its not something you want to last for a few days and re tile so you may as well fork out a few quid to have a nice job done.
you will need a wet saw. i would call in the professionals...
You have to have a wet saw. Tile snips are designed for ceramic tile not stone. You can use a grinder with a diamond cutting blade or a drimal with a diamond blade but you'll use lots of blades that way. Wet saws rent for around $30 a day U.S.
