My apartment in brick on the inside. How can I brighten it up?

Question:

Answers:
White wood lattice, mount it to the brick with 2 sided tape or screws if you can, then you can weave live or plastic ivy thru the lattice I started in one corner and sort of accented the room with the ivy a little on the top with it running down in different locations and added a few bright cheerful flowers to give it a little more color. The lattice really opens up the room and it looks good without ivy or flowers. You can do lots of things once you have the lattice up to break up the brick.

Hope this helps, sometimes you just got to take a chance whats the worst that can happen you don't like it so take it down, another idea is draping the brick with a decorative blacked or just with fabric, draped loosely on the wall gives the illusion of soft dimensions

Paint over the brick with a lighter color. If you don't want to paint over the brick, put up white curtains, put a fresh bright white coat of paint on the ceiling, & hang up light colored decorations.
The first thought would be to paint the brick, if you're allowed to. (Since it's an apartment, I'm guessing not.) And since it's difficult to put nails into brick and mortar (if you're even permitted to), the best idea I can come up with is to get some screens (the room divider kind that you can put fabric in), and go for some light or bright fabrics that give you the look you like best. Place them strategically in areas that will cover some of the brick, but don't try to cover all the walls...it will look bad. Then put something in front of the screen.plant, interesting statue, table, whatever you have. That will give additional brightness.
Also, if the ceilings can be screwed into, you can hang some floor-length curtains (or pieces of fabric) on a rod from the ceiling, wall-to-wall, on one wall, and a mirror on the opposite wall.
