Do i have to prep fresh plaster walls before papering? if so how do i do it?

Question:

Answers:
You have to 'size them' meaning you mix some weak paste (put more water then usual in mix) and coat the walls.

I never quite understand why somebody would want to plaster a wall for over 300 quid to only wallpaper over it. You can use lining paper.
You can do it by covering them with a very weak solution of wall paper paste. Make it so it is nearly like water. and apply to walls
i think it a good idea to give them a coat of mold resistant paint .
it will help in the long term
other than that a good coat of emulsion
probably best to leave the plaster a week or so to make sure it is totally dry all the way through.
the best way to prep fresh plaster is to put a watered down coat of emulsion on to the wall first. this will slightly soak in to the surface and give the paper a better key.
you could also use a mixture of water and PVA glue. a cup full of glue to 4 or 5 litres of water.which will have much the same effect.
once the coat of emulsion or glue is dry go ahead and paper.
I would prime before papering to make the paper stick and to aid in its removal in the future.
I would think you would have to apply primer, but you might want to check into that. If you go to Home Depot or Lowes, they will be able to advise you if primer is safe for plaster.
no just let it dry first then just paste the wal paper
I didnt I made sure it was a finished wall and painted it. You need to use a very well paint though like sherman williams.
Redhead has it right, If you don't size the walls, your papre will start peeling in a few years.

OR you can paint with a special primer
Paint it with watered down emulsion.
I think you would paint on some kind of primer before you paper and (remember to let the primer dry before papering)
Yes- either mist coat - 50/50 water emulsion mix or seal with a watered down coat PVA glue.
go over the walls with wall paper paste a couple of times as it soaks it in as its new walls
for god sake if you use emulsion to prime the walls make sure you use matt I would just use week paste or PVA....I am a decorator
Yes. "Size" the walls. Ask at any D.I.Y store, and they will supply the product. Full instructions are on the box, or packet.
yes you should prep a freshly plastered wall.
use a watered down emulsion.
that will stop the plaster sucking all the moisture out of the wall paper adhesive
