Car wax car finish question?
Question:Please dont laugh. My black car got a huge stain on the roof and hood...I thought it was oxidation. I took it to a detail shop, the told me a better guess would be vandelism that some chemical was thrown on my car. they couldnt buff it out and said my only choice was to take it to a proffesional shop to have paint striped. well the quotes I got are $1000.I only plan on having the car another 18 months and just dont have 1k to put toward car. So against the advice of everyone.I sprayed me roof and and then sprayed with top coat. I was pretty even handed and doesnt look as bad as you may think, but obivously it is uneven.looks ok wet. So my question is if I sand will that help even it out, then with a smoother surface is there any polish wax, anything that will even the color out or give it a wet look. I didnt touch the hood, so my question for that is there a wax or polish that will hide it, the stain is a small area there. well thanks

You should wet sand the roof with a 2000grit sandpaper but be gentle not to hard but hard enough to rough it up. 3m sells a polish to buff out the sandmarks it is used by 85% of all detail shops. Then use an orbital buffer to wax the whole car . Use a carnuba wax it is a major difference from crappy turtle wax. if you keep the shine up for a long time DO NOT WASH YOUR CAR with any soap. Every soap out there is bad it removes the clearcoat of your paint. good luck !!
Not to be smart, but what you are attempting to do is to polish a turd...If it's a chemical vandalism thing, the only realistic thing to do is either plan on lowering your price when you attempt to sell, or bite the bullet and have it professionally stripped and re-painted. I'm wondering why your auto insurance wouldn't cover acts of vandalism??
