What is the cheapest and best way to install an island stove and sink in a home with cathedral ceilings?

Question:I would like to add an island in my home that includes a sink and a stove. I would like to have the exhaust unnoticeable, preferably under the flooring but I have a concrete foundation and cathedral ceilings. Can this be done without demantling my home and without selling my first born?

Answers:
What you want is a downdraft ventilation system. The vent would actually be recessed into the cabinet unit until you need it and then it basically glides up.

I imagine that you're do a complete remodel because you want a sink in the island. Everything else would be relatively inexpensive, but the plumbing has the potential to be expensive because I dont know where the plumbing lines are located.

ive never tried this and i like your idea, makes me want to design a few more kitchens for my book..i would think that you need a hood of some kind that pulls the air either around the stove or over the top of it and have a vent run underneath of your flooring and out through the side of the house,in which case for insurance purposes you need to know the codes they go by or if theres a fire your home wont be covered under your home owners insurance.if i was you i might try looking for such systems on www.homedepot.com or www.lowes.com and let me know if you find something i will look for you as well
