Is it strange to have a washer and dryer in a bathroom?
Question:My dad wants to put a dryer and wash in our new bathroom that will be installed upstairs. It will be seperated by a screen, but I still think it is strange. He says its a new trend?
Answers:
I have a washer & dryer in my bathroom. Seems the logical place for them. I have an old house and the laundry used to be outside. The only suitable inside place, short of adding on a new laundry (too expensive!), was to modify the bathroom area. It works very well, especially because the bathroom is designed to deal with moisture. When I have the dryer going, I just turn on the bathroom exhaust fan to get rid of moist air. There was practically no extra plumbing required and what little that was needed was easy, because the pipes were all handy.
noooo .. i don't know about the NEW trend... but if there's no other place like a hall closet...but i can c that in bathrm woud b easier to the pipes...
I would put up MORE than a screen.. a wall.
I don't know if it's trendy; my mom had hers there, and I have several friends who put them there. If you've got the room, why not? It leaves more room in the rest of the house.
I have washer and dryer hook-ups in my bathroom. No, it's not strange at all.
YES IT IS STRANGE.
nope the bathroom is like the water room you know, there's a sink, and a toilet, and a washer, and a dryer, they all have water! cept the dryer. but that goes with the washer. my washer and dryer is in my laundry room, but if you don't have a laundry room, then the bathroom would be the second best place for it. or the garage.
No, in fact, it's a great idea. My washer and dryer are in my downstairs bathroom and are separated by bi- fold doors. I love it because it is so convenient.
Our washer and dryer is in the bathroom, keeps all the plumbing in one area and prevents rusting and mildew of a washer and dryer in the basement.
Who wants to keep on going down to the basement time after time?
Most people I know have them in their bathrooms. I live in the North Eastern USA.
Your Daddy's name ain't Earl Pitts is it?.........
Says, heck you can wash everything at one time!....
I got to disagree with him on this one
i've seen them in bathroom before---even without a screen
not only is it strange its really dangerous water and electric should never mix thats why light switches for bathrooms are always on outside of room or a pull cord.
john it is not strange to install appliances that need water hookup in an area where there is a water hookup. Whether the room is upstairs or downstairs. When you think about it upstairs makes a lot of sense because you don't have to carry all the laundry upstairs to put it away when finished.
however, i would build a cabinet to put the w/d in and make certain there is adequate ventilation to the outside, and a floor that won't soak up water and cause mold.
In our new house, we had them outside the bathroom, but I have seen them in the bathroom and it makes good sense, you get out of the tub or shower and just throw your clothes in the basket, ours had a nice door that covered them, and they looked great, it looked like a closet, they are putting televisions in bathrooms these days why not a washer and dryer.
No my best friends are in her bathroom
What's wrong with that? If your bedrooms are all upstairs, isn't that where most of the laundry goes? Tell your dad, I said, he's a smart man, and you should listen to him more often!!!
Laundry on the second floor is great! Where does all the laundry come from? The bedrooms and bath! No more carrying baskets of laundry up and down stairs. You will love it. I have a second floor laundry and I love it!
