Opinions on using light or dark colours vary, but :

Just by using dark colors, soft fabrics and dramatic lighting, you can turn any tiny space into a wonderful and stylish place for you to sit and enjoy. Some solutions for small spaces are color techniques, furniture arranging, and lighting considerations can give the look of space.

If you enjoy light and fun colors, then you will like the way that they also help make small spaces feel just a bit larger. Cooler colors like blue and green will be great for this effect. If you really want to go for the lighter look, you can paint the entire room white with white furniture and accents. This will make any room look bigger and roomier.
Cream colors and icy blues are just a few of the best color combinations that can open up a tiny room into a bigger living area. It is all about illusion.

light paint

dark paint will make it look smaller
Light paint, and if you have windows, light curtains that don't take up the whole window. Dark paint makes it appear smaller, and covering up all of your windows with large drapes will do the same.
light colored walls will reflect the light, making the room appear larger. dark colors absorb it and make it appear smaller.
dark paint will make it look like a cave, light paint will open up the room and make it more inviting
Light paint and maybe even mirror an entire wall.
Use a light paint and mirrors. It doesn't have to be big mirrors, maybe some small decorative ones placed on the wall around pictures.
a pastel color or light beiges with white trim will make the room appear larger. some people add mirrors however in some cases that looks tacky.
Light paint and bright paint make a room bigger. Dark paint makes a room smaller. Same goes for the furniture colors. Also, big, bulky furniture can make a room look smaller than it is.
lite paint
Light paint every time
LIGHT AND BRIGHT!

^^thats what you need i also hear that mirrors can do the trick too! maybe add 2 small square mirrors to one wall and have them diagonal from each other with two pictures diagnol from each other. get what im saying??

HOPE THIS HELPS =)
Light paint. But if you like dark, just do one wall or the trim. I also suggest mirrors and good lighting.
