I am for the loft conversion as its cheaper than moving.It is a bit of hassle too as your life in the house gets disturbed a bit by the building work.But again I think if it gives you an extra bedroom and maybe an ensuite it is worth it.Get in a decent builder and work out a practical schedule and budget..It should be easy enough to get planning permission,get decent plans drawn up and submit them quickly.Speak to the neighbours,get them on side,get party wall agreements done with the neighbours. looking for a bigger house has the pitfalls of one you will have to find a buyer for yours,two you will have to find a house that you like and can afford.three the disrupting and hassle of moving, four lots of hidden costs
Depends on size of loft, if neighbours will object (planning permission?), and cost.
we had a quote for loft and it was around 18k,its cheaper than adding money to move and expence of actual moving
I would convert the loft, at least the rest of your house is decorated to your taste, you know the neighbourhood and are hopefully happy there.
It totally depends on the circumstances. A loft conversion is normally cheaper...
