With a 4 " granite backsplash, do I need tiles or can I just paint above it/?

Question:

Answers:
Either would be acceptable, although the painted surface will be harder to keep clean. While sealed tile will resist grease and other food items that will stain (spaghetti sauce, etc.) the paint will probably hang onto the greasy spot, even after cleaning.

However, for the price of tiling, you can paint and repaint the backsplash many times to keep it looking nice.

I would suggest that you paint it for now if you are not sure. You can always go back at any time and tile it, but would have a hard time going back and removing the tile if you wanted paint.

The main job of the 4" granite spash is to keep water which has pooled on the counter from getting onto the wall or running behind the cabinet. As long as you have that, you can do pretty much anything with the area above that.

You can just paint above it. You may want to tile behind the sink or stove, but I would paint the rest.
Hi You can do either, I have tile on one wall and paint over on the other.
It is more expensive to tile. Its generally an "upgrade" to have a tile/stone backsplash.
Either one would be fine. If you use paint rather than tile, be sure to use a glossy paint or at least semi-gloss. It's much easier to clean than a flat or satin paint. Good luck!
go 4r mat finish paint.
