What paint/finish would be the best to use in a smoker's room?
Question:I'm looking for something that smoke would have a hard time clinging to and smoke stains could be easily washed from.
Answers:
Go to your local Lowe's, get Valspar interior stain blocking latex primer. have it tinted to the desired color for your walls, or at least a light shade of the color. Then get a gallon of the Valspar Signature paint, in a SEMI-GLOSS finish. That will be highly scrubbable, and combined with the primer will cover very well over the old surface.
Also, as in any paint project, wash your walls down very well with TSP which is also available at Lowe's. This will allow the paint to adhere better and ensure you're painting on a uncompromised surface.
best of luck.
you can ask a professional. it really depends on the paint brand.
Start with a good primer followed by a decent quality name brand of semi-gloss or gloss paint. Easy to clean the walls as often as required.
You want a gloss paint. Semi gloss would be okay too, but gloss is better. It's easiest to clean. When you clean it, just spray 409 on it, and watch the smoke residue be absorbed by the cleaner and flow down the wall.
Acrylic Vinyl is a good washable paint & goes on very smoothly. If you want a light colour choose magnolia rather than white!!
For wood coverage use gloss paint over a good primer!!
semi gloss i think
