Putting nails into drywall?
Question:I am wanting to hang a roughly 10lb picture. However, to be center, it only goes into drywall and not studs. Will this destroy the drywall?
Answers:
Look for professional wall hangers made by OOK . They are made so the nails are inserted on an angle, allowing them to hold greater loads. They have several types with one to three holes in each bracket. Your drywall should be at least 1/2" thick. There load ratings are up to 75 lbs. They can be purchased at Mennards or Home Depot. There are other options such as toggle bolts or if your picture is wide enough that it covers two studs then you could place a screw into each stud then attach a wire between them. You would then locate the center where your picture would hang. You would then crimp on a fishing line sinker on each side to keep your picture centered. Good Luck.
yes
yes, you'll have big holes that won't hold the picture anyway
You will not ruin the drywall unless you miss the nail while hammering. To be safe, try using one of those small picture frame hangers that look like a little hook. This will make things much easier on your drywall.
Go to Home depot and buy the correct hangers, someone there will show you.
if the picture is large enough, or you know somebody that can repair drywall, have them cut out the drywall where you want the picture to be and put in a 2x4 or 2x6 on the flat between the to studs and then just patch the hole and hang the picture
No. Just don't use a 16d nail when you do it, use the smallest that will hold the picture and drive it in at a slight downward angle. It's not the ideal way to hang a picture but it won't destroy the drywall.
yeah the OOK hooks are what you need they are really cheap and you wont damage the wall you can get them acording to weight or you can get a multi pack at home depot or lowes they look like this
