How do I hang a close to 25 lb picture on my wall??
Question:we got this (id say about 25 lb) picture and we want to hang it. we have a new house so want to be careful and not use so many nails..we bought this kit from walmart and it has a thick wire, screws, a metal thing with holes in it, nails, and a skinny metal thing that the nail goes through...we dont know how to put it on though! do we have to drill inside the picture and attach the metal thing with the screws going through it? will it crack the picture though?
please make the steps easy to understand! thanks!

You need to purchase an item called a Dry wall anchor. You can purchase this at any hardware store (and their cheap). They come in different weights, as in the package will tell you how much weight they can hold... This is the only way to do it without destroying your wall. They are VERY easy to use!
use hercules hooks. there at target.
the Hercules hooks have been proven to hold over 100 lbs but you have to use 3 at least over the top of the pic to disperse the weight
The kit you bought needs to be rated for at least the weight of the picture. Normally, you'd buy one that handles about double the weight (i.e. 50 lbs). And, with something that heavy, you probably want it to be a clip hook so that if an Earthquake strikes, it doesn't come down.
The type of kit depends on the frame and picture. If the picture already has a built in hook, then you only need the one that goes into the wall. It's best to find a stud and use the nails that come in the package. Either buy yourself a stud finder, or knock on the drywall to find a different sound (usually every 18"). The 50 lb hooks usually go in with 3 nails at a slight angle.
For drywall hanging only (you can't center on a stud), then this weight demands you use a dual hook mechanism one to two feet apart. You'll need to level the holes. Use drywall anchors and a screw in picture hook. Then, use the wire type hanging device on the frame and hook the wire across the two hooks.
Find a stud and hang it from there, it will hold it very well, I wouldn't put it on a wall of drywall only.
