What are some cute ideas for girls rooms? light colors?

Question:Hey! We're re-doing my room. And my mom demands that we use lighter colors cuz' my room gets the most sunlight. So no bright pinks! Does anyone have some cute color schemes or themes for a girls room? I'm not picky about the color.

Answers:
If you're in this for the long haul, like through high school and maybe even college, try a theme that is not just a fad, like "My Kitty" or "Strawberry Shortcake". HOWEVER if you DO like either of those, pick a more mature grand scheme. EG: Like the new Strawberry Shortcake? Use a light green (sage w/ a tiny bit of yellow in in, but not lime) on the walls and then a slightly dark berry type red for any trim, or a couple of items of furniture. Then you could use some 'flower' type things and 'strawberry' type things for the most of your 'knick knacks' and bedding / window treatment, and throw in a few of the catchy Strawberry Shortcake items.
As you get older, you can keep the color scheme, and maybe add some same green and berry plaid for the bedding / window treatment, with a green / berry flowery bed skirt and valance, and remove the Strawberry Shortcake items. As you get older, you might want to darken the berry items to almost burgundy - easily done w/ out stripping any wood/paint, and change the green in the walls to a more sage color, also easily done. Be sure to add for pop a big silk HOT PINK and LIME GREEN pillow.

you could do pastels in different colors and paint each wall a different color then do like poka dots of all the colors on all the walls to tie in all the colors together. you can still have it be colorful without using bright colors so have fun with it!
How about
light tan and a soft rose color
light tan and mint green
light gold and white
white, pink and tan
You could do a ballerina theme. with pink.
You could do a floral theme with lavender...
You could do a sunflower theme with pale yellows.
You could do pink and brown's.
You could do a spring theme with pastel green.
You could do a cloud theme with sky blues.

How old are you and how mature do you want your room to be?

Just have fun!
I did my daughter's room in two-tone lavender. I put a row of tape about 2/3 up the wall all the way around. I painted the lower part the darker shade and the upper part the lighter shade. The light shade is very light..almost white. Then we installed a shelf right on the line on one wall.
You could use this idea with any colors you like - blues, yellows, greens, or neutral earth tones.

My daughter (age 12) loves it!
pick something your into and pick one color ( bold color) and then light color on the other walls. make sure they work together and then a color for the trim so all together you will atleast need like three good colors that you really like.
lots of fun ideas
