I need paint that is the color of nickel and or stainless steal , does anyone know where i can find this color

Question:I have tried the regular stuff like spray paints and model car paint but they are either to shiney or dull gray. I need it to refinish a mirror frame. Is there a paint or technique I can try to get a brushed nickel and or stainless steel look?

Answers:
there is a great book by Ray Bradshaw that you can check out. It has 1,200 great paint effects and thats the name of the book.1200 paint effects for the home decorator. Stainless steel is basicly the same as silver so think about that. lots of silver paint out there!!

There is a paint that is silver in color and can be found if you look hard enough in Older Paint and Hardware Stores. You stir it up
and it turns silver. And dries silver also. But I have been told that the EPA pulled it due to mercury content. Good Luck
Take a sample of what you are matching to Ace True Value Hardware Store. They have a color matching system. Lowe's and Home Depot also.
I have this link bookmarked

I am installing a brushed nickel backsplash and need to have a matching paint to cover caulk and to paint a triple outlet cover.

They don't sell this particular metallic paint but offer a few suggestions for matching.

They also have a solution for achieving an antique finish. Not exactly what I'm looking for but I might try it if I can't find the exact match.
if you want to paint something with the look of stainless steel or nickel, there are a few products out there. However, many of the aluminum colored paints have actual shavings in with the resin. If you are painting a mirror that may get touched often, the finish will dull and smear with traffic. I have used oil based aluminum paint, and after it is dry I have sprayed a satin clear base over the aluminum paint. If you are going for the brushed look, let the clear dry and use a nylon brush and run a coat with strokes all in the same direction. After a few coats it will cloud somewhat and give the brushed look.
Any paint store can help you, and the references the other answerer's gave you will help you get close, but if you are right up close, it still looks like paint!
It is what it is! Make a choice, don't be expecting a miracle, and you'll be okay!
Try the following website: www.metallicpaintcollection.co... .
They boast of forty different colors of metallic paint. I used their copper paint and was extremely pleased with the results.
The brand name of the paint is Modern Masters. These are brush on paints not spray cans.
