Can I use a crown stapler to install hardwood floor?
Question:
Answers:
not a good idea
stick with what is proven T-style nails(sometimes called staples)
The nails for hardwood are very thick and even with the proper tooling they still bend and break when they hit a harder part of the wood like a knot
you would probably run into that alot more with crown staples
I guess if you were going to just lay it down to pretty up the house to sell it that would be fine although it wouldn't do much for your Carma
I just did my floors last year and they are going to be beautiful for years and I appreciate the work that it took to get them that way
do yourself a favor and don't go cheap on proper tooling and nail spacing, leveling(flattening), prep work
the truth is you will regret it later if you don't
I would`nt try it, you probably won`t get the proper penetration. The crown may not set and you`ll create joints that may not seat.
Also staples legs tend to spiral as they penatrate the grain which may cause them to "blow out"
You`ve spent all that $ on flooring, spend a couple more dollars and rent a nailer. I think you`ll be glad you did.
