Who makes the best bed linen?
Question:Thread count? Does it matter? What is the most comfortable and amazing bed linen you've ever slept in?

To me, the best bed linen is Ralph Lauren. They are a bit expensive but soooo very soft! If you have a Beall's in your area you can get them for a decent price(around 30.00 a set) I used to be a housekeeper for residential homes and have seen all types of linens. I seen the R.L ones, and fell in love. I have not bought anything else since! The thread count does matter, the higher the thread count the softer and thicker the linen is.
I shop overstock and smart bargians on line and get very good linens at good prices. I have bed linens from 300 - 800 thread count and it seems the higher the TC the thicker the sheets are and thats ok for winter maybe in some parts, but i personally like a less thread count - between 300 - 400 they seem to feel silkier and smoother. some of the high thread counts are so thick they almost feel like flannel - too hot for me!
This is one of those areas where price really does matter. As does thread count. If you purchase cheap and low quality thread count, your sheets will pill and feel rough after just a few washes. I suggest a thread count of 400-600...your sheets will feel silky and smooth...no matter how many times you wash them. (And by the way, washing them is a way of keeping them in good shape.) Egyptian Cotton sheets, while expensive, are GLORIOUS to sleep in.
As for brands.I don't really pay attention to that. Look for a high thread count. I generally find a great selection at a great price at JC Penny...
