You don't seem to have too many options, but changing the hardware is always a step up. It's like adding jewelry to your cabinets. Good luck!
u can use masking tape in putting your decors
yeah u could put contact paper but that would b worst than painting them. That stuff is a PAIN to get off of anything.
hmmmm. u r kinda stuck. U can't paint. & can't damage them sooo...
now i don't know if this would work.. but what about fabric? I don't like mentioning that b/c of them being kitchen cabinets & the grease & such but u could try corn starchin them to the doors b/c that would come off when u move & u jst wipe the cabinets.
Have u tried wood cleaner? Mayb they jst need a good cleaning w/ wood cleaner.
I'm sory but that's all i can come w/.
have you talked to your landlords? Maybe you could ask them if you can re-finish the cabinets as part of your rent for one month. It woudn't be hard to sand and paint them or stain them. If that's not an option, then take off the fronts and put new doors up until you move. It might be a pain in the butt but at least you will have better cabinets. ;)
good luck!!
You could use velcro. If they are kitchen cabinets you can get framed art that fits within the cabinet door (and gives the look of a raised panel) and use heavy duty velcro to attach the frame to the cabinet. If they are bathroom cabinets, you could still use the velcro but use fabric instead of a frame.
You could also check out Wall Words, Wonderful Graffiti and Wallies. All temporary and easily removable when you are ready to leave. Wallies recently came out with a chalkboard "panel" that would probably look cool, although not on every cabinet if it's a kitchen.
It's a little different, but have you tried using cork? It's sold in sheets in most craft and office supply stores.
1. Measure the flat part of the cabinet door inside the panels and cut with scissors.
2. Use decorative nail head tacks (you've seen them on leather furniture) and tack the cork in each of the four corners so the holes will not be visible when you remove the cork.
3. You can paint the cork, cover it in fabric or tack up your favorite sayings.
4. Have fun!!!
What about just taking the doors off and using fabric over the opening-sort of like curtains? You could buy some cheap but cute kitchen type towels and tack them at the top of the cabinet or use a spring type curtain rod and put a hem in the towel to slide it onto the rod, contact paper is a good idea but it is hard to remove!
