Where is the best place in North London to hire floor sanding equipment for DIYing?

Question:Any tips on wooden floor refinishing, please let me know,

Answers:
There are 2 basic types of floor sander, orbital or linear (belt driven) , you may need both dependant on the area you are contemplating. The orbital sander will get closer to edges, but may leave circular marks and need hand finishing. Belt driven sanders are better for large areas and for a more aggressive approach, make sure you are not too heavy handed initially and try to go with the grain of the timber on your finishing sanding if possible, any good hire shop will stock them, I have used HSS and Speedy Hire recently.

Probably a HSS shop, look them up on yell.com
I hired one from Dwyer Hire in Watford and it was quite ok and easy to use and did the job - it was a reasonable price too!
I think B and Q may even do that sort of thing as well now!
Have a look in Yellow Pages for your area!
No real tips - it is not that difficult - but it is very messy - be prepared for loads of dust and from what I remember fairly noisy!
I did mine years ago with the help of my two kids who were then 15 and 17!
Good luck!
