Need cheap ideas for shower window coverings...?
Question:We just got a house, and there are a few things that we need to fix and replace...one of these things are our windows, especially the bathroom windows. They are at eye level inside of the shower and quite old and thin so it gets cold, plus they are not as frosted as they should be so you can see us in the shower! We plan on getting these replaced, however they are not on the top of the priority list! Is there anything we can do in the mean time to help insulate the windows, and what can we do to make them more private? Curtians will get wet since they are in the shower. Any ideas!?

You have several option. Contact makes a clear tacky backed vinyl with a number of different frosted patterns that you could stick over the glass. The opacity will give you privacy and the plastic will act as a little insulation. You can also make curtains out of an old shower curtain or vinyl table cloth which water will not affect and hang it on a tension rod. You can also permanently etch the glass with an etching solution that you can buy at a craft store, though this will give you privacy it won't do much to insulate.
In addition to some contact paper/window insulation - try adding some shelving in the window or in front of the window if there is no ledge. Pick up some "L" brackets and appropriate sized shelving or wood slats to make shelves. Place brick-a-brack or even better - spider plants on the shelf. Many plants love bathroom windows especially due to the humidity that a bathroom provides. Be careful to choose plants that thrive in the lighting that is available through your bathroom window.
