You also need to consider the surface you are painting. If you are painting over paneling or a dark color you will need to use a primer before painting your desired color.

2. Drop Cloth on the floor (and anything remaining in the room)
4. Tape off windows, trim, doors, etc.
5. Use a roller to paint as much as possible
6. Then trim out what you couldn't get with the roller with an angled brush.

Painting a room is really very easy, just time consuming. If you dont want to go through all this, i would say the best way is to hire a painter :-) good luck!
The best way is with a roller. Use an extension pole if the room is tall and if you are painting the ceiling. Use a brush to do the trim and corners first. This is the fast and easiest way.
