What is a good (best) type of basement sealer...?
Question:My walls are brick but have a coating covering it, its textured but I don't believe its a water proofer just paint. Would I have to remove all this old paint before applying a water proof sealer? Is there a type/brand that I can apply directly to the walls and floor as is?
Home was built in mid 70's, brick, no sub pump...
Thank you for your help, first time home owner (didn't get a warranty)

Lots of potential issues here. If the walls have been painted, Drylok will not work as a water proofer. Thoroseal may work, but I would double check with a retailer(paint store,HD, Lowes, etc). Make sure your rain gutters are in tact and flowing away from the house.
There are some concrete products that will waterproof from the inside(Quikwall) but they are difficult to use.
