How do I paint polka dots on a babies room wall?
Question:I am working on my daughter's nursery and want to paint polka dots on at least one of the walls. How do I make sure that I get perfectly shaped circles on the wall?

I would take like a coffe can or a glass and paint around the ring of the can or glass (used as a stencil) and then finish painting in the dots with a small craft store brush.
If you use this idea make sure you dont put alot of paint on the glass or whatever or you will get drips, kind of paint it really thin like you would a first coat of nail polish.

We just did this to my nieces room a few months ago. We painted her walls in a base color (which in our case was a very bright green) and then we took different sizes of lids (bowl lids, aerosol can lids, etc..) and traced around them on the wall with a pencil. Then we used the sponge brushes that are about .25 per brush from Wal-Mart and filled in the circles. We tried several different methods and this one worked the best. We have cleaner lines with this one. It does take a while, but hte end result is worth it!
I would make a stencil and use that. You can buy the stencil material at craft/paint stores etc. Or use a piece of cardstock if you want to do it asap! Draw around a plate, cut it out, and there you go! You will be able to use it over and over and the dots will be identical.
I have done this as well, to my own room. Tracing around circular object is okay, but I have found that if you get circular sponges and just sponge the paint onto the wall, it works just a well and is also quicker. There are lots of sponge sizes, so if you want different sized dot's, it won't be a problem. Try getting sponges without lots of little holes, it saves you from having to go over the spots again.
Obviously paint your background color first...I would recommend you buy different size circle stencils and those wooden brushes with the black spongy square tipped tops. Place the differents size circles against the wall...use tape to avoid going out of the lines...Repeat as necessary.. I think it would look great with some different colors like large light green ones, medium baby blue, tiny yellow (well depending on the color of the walls. Use your own judgement..Happy Painting!
i would just draw a perfect circle on a piece of cardboard using a protractor and use that as a stencil, easy!!

Use a plastic lid from a coffee, bread crumbs, or baking soda can. Perfect circles, non scratching, and re-usable!
If you want tiny ones use a pencil eraser
