When tiling a shower stall do you need to put a grout sealer on the new grout?
Question:
Answers:
Yes. Grout is very porous and a sealer will help prevent mold from forming. A small towel to dry the surfaces after a shower is a good idea. Wipe the doors and trim as well. It takes a minute or two but when finished you'll be dry as well! Leave the stall door open to aid in airing out. Good Luck.
yes seal the new grout, before you use it.
yes, and it helps keeping the grout from staining.
Yes, all grout should be sealed to prevent seepage and staining.
most definitely this will prevent water stains and mold build up. better to do it that to have to replace the grout a year later. good luck i just did a tile project last year it's not that difficult but it is tedious. have patience when your done it will look incredible.
yeah, why not?
YES!! And hopefully you water proofed the backerboard.
OH YES!!!! most important in such a wet place.if ya don't your grout will turn to mush and/or moldy.
yes that would be a good idea..
I see you have enough answers, but I didn't want you to be frightened by Jon R's answer. You do not have to waterproof backerboard.
