Why is a section of plastered wall not drying?

Question:The plaster is old but I stripped wall-paper off to paint obviously giving the wall a good soaking and there is one section that still looks and feels damp and it has been three days now. I am 99% sure that the dampness was caused by me soaking the wall and nothing else.

Answers:
The likely cause is that the area taking longer to dry is built from, or has been patched with, a material that is lighter and more absorbent. It's simply taken up more water when you did the stripping. Subsequently it's going to take longer for the water to come out of that area and dry.

I would just wait. Run your ceiling fan or a/c and just let it dry.
maybe or maybe theres a pipe leaking be hind the wall
Turn a fan directly on it for a day or so. This happened to us once removing several layers of wallpaper in an older home. You want to get it dried as quickly as possible to inhibit mold growing behind the wall where you cannot see it.
It could be that the mixture was to wet.
