I am extending my home and wanted to ask if a sunken drawing room is a good idea.?

A sunken drawing room (living room) is a great idea if you want to draw attention to and separate the room from the surrounding rooms. It also helps in furniture arrangement since there is a starting and stopping point for that particular room. You don't have to struggle with where to start and stop the furniture placement. It also has a more intimate feeling.
I can't really think of any disadvantages.
Ours is sunken and I really love it.
Sunken rooms sort of went out of fashion. People prefer open floor plans now days. One disadvantage would be people not noticing they have to step down and falling! :)
