I am looking for ideas on how to decorate my baby nursery. I want to use a fairy and butterfly theme.?

Hey! I know when my sister had her first son, she went nuts decorating the nursery in a clown theme. Even went so far as to have an artist come in and do a circus painting on the wall. It was all great until the kid was 3-4 and tired of the Circus theme. She had to go re-do the whole thing, which took a lot of time and effort. Plus, she lost all that great hand painted work. For her next kid, she got smart and used decals. Worked perfectly and she could just peel them off in a year or two. I myself, prefer gingham. I wouldn't do that with a fairy or butterfly theme though. Too busy. If you go with the fairy or butterfly thing, stick with solids. Another idea...my friends new nursury is zoo animals and it is ADORABLE!

We painted a simple mural of giant grass, flowers, and tree stumps. Then, we took fairy stickers (you can pick them up at any dollar store) and stuck them all over the place...so it looked like the fairies were living in the painting.
Most people decorate baby nurseries to please themselves, using pastel colors and themes, in line with their idea of something cute and soothing for a baby. What people don't understand is that babies actually respond best to dark colors and contrast, for example large black and white pictures of faces. So if you are interested in providing visual stimulation for your baby, you should use big and bright images with lots of contrast.
Look on Pottery Barn - kids. They did an adorable butterfly theme. They did tuille and hung it from the ceiling over the crib. Go on-line I'm sure they have pictures
