We just added wainscoting to our smallish computer room. Make sure you get your height (32-36 inches from the floor usually) and see how it works all the way around your room. You may have to adjust the height in order to avoid light switches or any other shelves or cabinets. We had to adjust our height down about 1 1/2 inches to avoid having to cut in for a light switch and window sill. Remember, walls and floors are not necessarily straight, especially if you have an older home as we do. Get a plumb line and find your vertical line and from there your horizontal line and use that to measure what you need to cut. Otherwise, you will end up with a square piece of wood that won't fit into your slanted wall and floor. Buy lots of trim to hide little imperfections and have fun!
added Wainscoating to the inside of my cabinets

all clear oak from Amish saw mill
I've used a kit from Lowe's and also purchased bead board at length and cut it to size beware both your walls and floor may not be level or plumb so make sure your first piece is true and then check every few pieces also keep in mind you'll want chair rail to cap it off
